What we include in a caravan service:


Bodywork
• Body panels – check and report upon any damage and sealant condition
• Blinds and fly screens – check tension, operation and material for damage
• Roof – check condition of roof lights and seals and also general condition of roof
• Door locks & windows – check operation of all locks, catches, stays and seal
• Floor – check for delamination
• Furniture – check condition & operation (incl. hinges, stays etc)
• Grab Handles – check condition & security
• Damp test – carry out & note readings on separate damp report

Water System
• Water pump and pressure switch – check operation
• Taps, micro switch, valves, pipes & tank (if fitted) – check condition and operation
• Water filter and housing – check for leaks & replace filter if necessary
• Waste system – check for leaks
• Water tanks (if fitted) – check security of all water tanks, including under slung
• Toilet – check seals, flush & blade operation
• Drain down – winter only

Chassis & Running Gear
• Coupling head and safety catch – check wear/damage and lubricate
• Nose weight – check and report (best practice)
• Ball acting stabiliser – check pads
• Coupling head gaiter – check for splits
• Breakaway cable and clip – check condition correctly routed and attachment integrity
• Drawbar – check
• Jockey wheel – check condition operation and lubricate
• Chassis – check condition and security of assemblies including chassis to floor security
• Corner steadies and spare wheel carrier (where fitted) – check for damage, operation and lubricate
• Wheels – check for damage and distortion
• Tyres – assess age and advise replacement if over seven years
• Tyres – check condition & wear pattern (incl. sidewalls & valves)
• Check & record tyre tread depths
• Check & record tyre pressures (incl. spare)
• Suspension assemblies – check operation
• Handbrake mechanism – check operation & lubricate
• Brake rods, cables and supports – check operation, lubricate and adjust
• Remove brake drums – clean and check hub bearings and seals
• Brake shoes – clean and check condition of linings (incl. springs and expanders)
• Adjust brakes and check operation

Ventilation
• Fixed ventilation openings – check for free flow of air
• Roof lights – check to ensure free of obstructions
• Check all fixed ventilation is guarded against vermin ingression

Fire Safety
• Smoke alarms – check operation and replace batteries
• Extinguisher (if fitted) – check correct type fitted and expiry date
• Fire blanket (if fitted) – check location and fixing


• Regulator – check performance
• Carry out gas leak test
• Appliances – check for operation of all gas appliances fitted including FFD’s
• Gas cylinder – check security
• Check Gas cylinder retain straps
• Complete carbon monoxide inspection

Electrical Systems
• 12N, 12S/13 pin plugs and cables-check condition and test
• Road lights and reflectors – check condition and operation
• Battery (if fitted)-check condition of battery and compartment and check battery charge state
• Battery (if fitted)-check and top up level if required and perform high discharge test
• Check battery charge rate from 12s/13pin plug
• Fridge-check operation from 12s/13 pin plug
• Interior lighting and equipment – check operation and fuse rating
• Awning light – check operation
• LV inlet plug and extension lead – check condition and resistance across connection pins
• Earth bonding – carry out resistance check
• RCD unit – check operation of RCD test button
• 230v sockets – carry out plug top polarity test
• Charger – check output charge rate at battery connections
• Fridge – check operation of all other 230v appliances, fans and luminaries
